The PTFE owes its fundamental characteristic – the excellent chemical resistance – to a structure consisting of very long linear chains of carbon atoms completely wrapped and “protected” by fluorine atoms.
The fluorine-carbon bond is the strongest of all organic chemistry, therefore such shielding is stable against chemical attacks, but also against thermal excitation.
Other properties of PTFE are: no contamination of confined fluids, excellent anti-adhesive properties, dimensional stability and resistance.
